Welding Fume Separation Equipment - Testing and certification

The Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (IFA) of the DGUV tests and certifies welding fume extraction devices in accordance with DIN EN ISO 21904-1 and -2. Certified devices may be marked with ‘W3’. The devices are listed on the positive list and are therefore approved for air recirculation, even if the welding fumes contain carcinogenic substances, such as when welding chrome-nickel steels. The flyer explains the background to the rules on air recirculation from the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (Gefahrstoffverordnung) and the technical regulations, as well as the importance of testing and certification by the IFA, and contains information on commissioning testing and certification.
