People working outdoors are constantly exposed to solar UV. The effects of this radiation include sunburn and skin cancer. In order to help employees assess when their skin and eyes are being damaged by too much UV radiation, wearable UV sensors are available on the consumer market. On behalf of the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the building trade (BG BAU), the IFA has tested one of these systems on the market for its suitability, in terms of measurement accuracy and reliability, for use in an occupational environment. This Sheet 442 in the series “Focus on IFA’s work” presents the measurement project and its results
