Safe maintenance of hydraulic systems

The applications of hydraulics are highly diverse. They range from micro-scale uses to mechanical and plant engineering, and even aerospace. This information is intended for individuals who plan and carry out maintenance work on machines and systems equipped with hydraulic components. Since maintenance often involves accessing areas that are not reachable during normal operation, special safety measures must be taken during such work. This document outlines potential hazards and the measures to prevent them, as well as provides guidance for the safe execution of maintenance tasks on hydraulic equipment. It supports the identification and assessment of risks and the derivation of appropriate measures in accordance with the general Technical Rules for Operational Safety TRBS 1112 “Maintenance”, with a focus on the specific hazards associated with hydraulic maintenance.
